LENT 2012 Check out the Holy Trinity Lenten Calendar here
During Lent we prepare ourselves for the celebration of Easter. "Lent is the primary penitential season in the Church's liturgical year, reflecting the forty days Jesus spent in the desert in fasting and prayer (CCC)." The common practice for Catholics is to always “give something up for Lent” and this is good to do. However, the Tradition of our Church actually calls us to do more than just give something up for Lent. We can add things to our lives as well in the hope that our Lenten practices will benefit us in our life of faith.
Lent should be a time to grow in our relationship with Christ and our dedication to the faith. Tradition holds that there are actually three things we should do in Lent as we prepare to celebrate Easter. These three things are: Prayer, Almsgiving, and Fasting. We do the last one well every year, but this year I am asking you to join me in focusing on the other two as well. Please seriously consider things that you can do to grow in your relationship with God.
Here are some examples: -Prayer: Set 5-15 minutes aside for prayer daily, daily Mass, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, the rosary, Liturgy of the Hours, Stations of the Cross, spiritual reading from the Bible or other spiritual books. -Almsgiving: giving time to others, helping the poor or the elderly, helping at the St. Joseph Pantry or the Comea Shelter, or giving part of your allowance to the needy. -Fasting: You know what to do here, but be reasonable and only do something that you know you can do.

WELCOME TO HOLY TRINITY YOUTH MINISTRY!Youth Ministry, as defined by the US Bishops in the document 'Renewing the Vision', is "the response of the Christian community to the needs of young people, and the sharing of the unique gifts of youth with larger community." In teen-friendly terms, that means that anything and everything we do for youth at Holy Trinity is considered Youth Ministry, as well as anything that youth do to give back to the Church, the community and to God. That's a pretty big thing! Holy Trinity Youth Ministry is alive and well, serving the Junior and Senior High youth of our parish. Youth Ministry is not a club you join or even an activity you have to regularly attend. Students can participate in activities they find interesting and can fit into their schedules. Youth Ministry at the parish is a comprehensive program that works in conjunction with the Junior and Senior Religious Education Please check out our schedules and find things that might interest you and get them on your calendar!! As events get closer, look for more detailed information in the bulletin, on the youth ministry bulletin We look forward to seeing you at an event soon!
